BAE Systems developed a shipbuilding academy at its site in Scotstoun, Glasgow, UK. The Applied Shipbuilding Academy consists of a new two storey building with the ground floor housing an exhibition, heritage space and a STEM Innovation Lab. Taking pride of place within the exhibition and heritage space is the centerpiece exhibit AR Shipyard.
The aim of AR Shipyard is to showcase stories of innovation in an enjoyable and accessible way. The screens reveal an X ray style cross section of the ship and shipyard with additional information accessed through hotspots and pop ups. We were sub-contracted by Glasgow Science Centre, who conceptualized the space, to design and build AR Shipyard.
